Dr. Shrutika Junagade Kankariya, (MBBS, DNB, FICO, Fellow Retina and Diabetes Eye Disease) is an advanced medical retina, diabetic eye disease and cataract expert. She completed her medical college training from prestigious and one of the best medical college in India, Seth GS medical college and KEM hospital, Mumbai. She completed her ophthalmic education at one of the finest eye institute in Asia; Sankara Netralaya ,Chennai, under the aegis of diplomat of the national board (DNB). She has obtained FICO UK (Fellow international council of ophthalmology, united kingdom and FRCS 2, Glasgow with distinction. Thereafter she underwent advanced fellowship in retinal disorders at sankara netralaya Chennai (Busiest center catering to referrals for retinal disorders from all over Asia).

Her keen interest in diabetes eye diseases made her one of the few retina specialist to go to Bascom palmer eye institute (BPEI), Miami, USA (#1 Eye Hospital in USA); where she specifically got training in diabetes eye disease under the stalwart in this field, Dr. Harry Flynn who is the pioneer in formulating treatment strategies for diabetes eye disease.

Apart from diabetes eye disease she has extensive experience in managing other retinal diseases like Age related macular degeneration(ARMD), Retinal vascular occlusion; branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) and central retinal vein occlusion(CRVO) ,central serous retinopathy(CSR), retinal and macular dystrophies and various other retinopathy.

Apart from this she has several years of experience in the management of complicated cataract surgery, cataract surgery in children. She is a fine clinician when it comes to general ophthalmological problems like eyelid problems, squint, pediatric ophthalmology, uveitis, choroiditis, cataract, glaucoma, optic nerve disease (neuro ophthalmology). She has keen interest in the field of low visual aids (LVA) and rehabilitation of the blind.

Social Contribution

Dr Shrutika has always been in the forefront when it comes to social responsibility as a eye doctor. She has conducted several (more than 20 ) diabetic retinopathy camps in Pune in last 9 months. Besides this she has conducted several school eye health camps in Ahmadnagar . She is the only retina specialist to screen premature babies in NICU for a blinding disease of “retinopathy of prematurity” in the district of Ahmadnagar. She visits ahmadnagar once in a week to render her service to these needy premature NICU babies.
